Genshin Impact has taken the gaming industry by storm, as its player base keeps growing each day. New updates usually create a lot of hype, especially if previous leaks reveal that they will contain brand new characters.
Fighting is one of the core mechanics in Genshin Impact and each character has a certain type of weapon which can be leveled and upgraded. Recent Genshin Impact leaks have revealed that the game could finally receive a brand new type of weapon.
Every character in the game can wield only one type of weapon. At the moment there is a total of five weapon types but developer miHoYo never denied the possibility of adding new types of weapons in the future. A couple of days ago, an interesting Genshin Impact leak revealed that there is a chance that players could get a new weapon type in the future. Another Genshin Impact leaker, Project Celestia, doubled down on this rumor claiming that a new weapon type is currently in the making.
The addition of a new weapon would certainly have a huge impact to the game's meta, especially for players who already have a stacked set of maxed-out weapons. At the moment, claymore users are usually the strongest DPS characters in Genshin Impact but this could change in the future. Despite the fact that a new character joins the roster every few weeks, players often complain that only five weapon types can make fighting monotonous, especially for experienced players who are hardly challenged by the game's late-game content.
The new weapon will apparently be a crossbow which could have an interesting mechanic that will probably work in a similar way as the in-game bows. The two main things that will change will most likely be draw time and damage. Adding a new weapon would certainly shake up the current meta. At the moment, claymore users are usually the strongest DPS characters in Genshin Impact but this could change in the future. Even though the abundance of character seems to be one of the game's biggest assets, players are often complaining that only five weapon types are not enough claiming that adding new weapon types should be in sync with the character roster expansion.
These changes usually mean that miHoYo wants to add more combat diversity to the game which left a lot of fans wondering when will the Dendro element become playable. Dendro is the only element in the game that still isn't used by the character at the moment. It could still take some time for Dendro to arrive considering that adding a new element could be tricky because of the complex elemental reaction mechanics. This element has always been tied with the region of Chasm which is rumored to be one of the upcoming Genshin Impact regions.
Genshin Impact is now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
